    @NiGHTSFangirl
    I do agree with you to a point, however, they needed a Christine who would be widely accepted accross all age groups. A Emmy’s voice was a safe choice. Opera would be very risky.

    im trying out for this solo for our choir’s spring concert :)

    I’m sorry, I have to disagree. I like that Emmy’s voice is so high pitched. Sarah’s was deeper than Michael Crawford’s. I think Emmy’s and Gerard’s voices mesh perfectly together.

  14. NiGHTSFangirl - March 26th, 2009 at 06:53

    Sarah Brightman is way better suited to this role. She has a more operatic voice – Emmy Rossum does not. And… you know… they ARE in an opera house. I will admit, Emmy Rossum does have a gentle, soft voice – but Sarah Brightman is simply much better. And I’m sorry, but I really do not like how they messed up this song at the end. Or how they messed the title song, for that matter.

    This is my favourite musical!! I grew up listening to Michael Crawford as the Phantom!! :P but I have to say I loved the movie version so much.. I’m heading to London next week to see the stage version for the first time!! :P I know it will be different but the Phantom will always be timeless :)

    I gotta say, this used to be my second least favorite song (not a fan of Masquerade), then i grew to stand it, and now it’s by FAR my favorite song in the movie. “All I Ask of You” comes close, but not that close ;)
